CANADIAN AFFAIR BUILDS NETWORK TO REPLACE ZOOM FLIGHTS
- Summer 09 Zoom capacity to be covered by Canadian Affair
- 100,000 extra seats -
- 7,500 Zoom customers already rebooked with Canadian Affair -
Canadian Affair, the UK’s largest tour operator to Canada, will add on an extra 100,000 seats to replace the capacity lost to the market by the collapse of Zoom for summer 2009.
The leading tour operator to Canada has already rebooked 7,500 Zoom passengers since the collapse on Thursday evening and has also added 15 extra flights to repatriate passengers in the coming two weeks to and from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal to Gatwick, Glasgow and Manchester.
For summer 2009 the extra 100,000 seats on top of planned capacity will be added to key routes from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal:
| Toronto–Gatwick | Calgary–Gatwick | Vancouver–Gatwick | Montreal–Gatwick |
| Toronto–Glasgow | Calgary–Glasgow | Vancouver–Glasgow | |
| Toronto–Manchester |
Canadian Affair’s current summer 09 programme of over 65 weekly flights will continue as planned operating from Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, Halifax, Ottawa, Edmonton and Fredericton; linking to London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Exeter, Newcastle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Shannon and Dublin
Canadian Affair is already the largest UK tour operator to Canada, this additional capacity of approximately 100,000 seats, offers more direct low cost scheduled services to and from more airports in the UK and Canada than any other airline or operator.
British and Canadian-based Zoom suspended all operations and grounded its fleet last Thursday (28th August) as it entered into administration. Canadian Affair immediately put plans in place to add extra flight capacity this for the week ahead to help passengers recover their immediate holiday and travel plans.
Kathryn Munro, Communication & Marketing Director, Canadian Affair, said: "There's been an enormous demand for immediate travel – but this is now quietening down and we believe that everyone with immediate travel has now been re-booked. Passengers with winter and summer 09 bookings will continue to come in as people realise who their travel plans were with and now the initial rush is over."
"We expect this to continue for the next week or so, especially as tour operators and agents have still to contact many passengers with affected travel dates not in the immediate weeks and month. Our reservations centre and internet site has been working non stop because of the volume of demand. We are fortunate that we have the best staff in the industry and they have been excellent at helping distraught passengers remake their travel arrangements."
She continued: "We will release the full 09 summer schedule in the coming week once it is all loaded for sale."
Added Mrs Munro: "We look forward to flying more passengers in the coming months. People are reassured that when they book with us their money is fully protected. At times like this it is vital that customers pay close attention to who they are booking with – it is important to look for the protection stamps of BPCPA and IATA."
"In our 15 year history our passengers’ money has always been protected, our clients would never be faced with having to recover their flights costs from their credit card or bank. In the past few days we have had many concerned passengers who were let down by Zoom asking if their money is protected with us - so we are delighted to say Yes. We have the best leisure product on the market, with the lowest fares guaranteed and their holiday cost is fully protected."
